The Three Degrees
Having been an avid follower of The Three Degrees from as far back as I can remember, the expectation bar is extremely high. As The First Ladies of Philadelphia International Records, they set a standard that many would have fallen short of. However, to have maintained that high standard of professionalism and elevated quality vocal performance for over 50 plus years is no mean feat, yet they have done it.
With several member changes over the years, the journey to maintain the Three Degrees legacy has not been seamless, but nonetheless, it has been maintained. The current line-up is mind-blowing, with one original member, the amazing Valerie Holiday, Freddie Pool and The piece de resistance, the wonderful Hazel Payne, formerly of Taste of Honey, of Boogie Oogie Oogie fame, has now joined the outfit.
The gowns are the epitome of well-fitted glamour, the vocals, harmonies and routines are executed with surgical precision, providing a magnificent evening’s entertainment. It ya always a pleasure to see these ladies perform and be in their company.
As I always say, support live music where you can, and most certainly grab every opportunity you can to see these legacy groups perform.
