this is all about The British Collective. What a remarkable vision Don Mclean had when he brought together the extraordinary talents that became The British Collective. Even more remarkable was that each of these incredible artists said yes. Individually they are musical powerhouses; together they create something truly magical.
There is an undeniable presence that still surrounds them. Though the incomparable Noel McKoy is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on in every harmony, every smile, every note. You can almost feel him urging them forward—encouraging, inspiring and reminding them to keep creating the music that only they can make.
Watching them together is an emotional experience. Their love and respect for one another radiates from the stage. The effortless way they weave in and out of each other’s performances, the humour disguised as chaos and the chaos disguised as humour, is pure joy to witness. It isn’t manufactured; it’s family. And that’s what makes every performance unforgettable.
Their rendition of Love Me Tonight is nothing short of a masterpiece. For me, it doesn’t simply honour the original—it surpasses it. Then come So Ready and my personal favourite, Spiritual… and those goosebumps return all over again. Music has the power to move the soul, and these songs do exactly that.
The British Collective are more than a supergroup. They are a celebration of British soul at its finest—a reminder of what happens when extraordinary talent is matched by genuine friendship, humility and heart.
Please don’t leave it too long before we see you again. Better still, get back into the studio. There are so many of us eagerly waiting for new British Collective music.
